Read each of these important
considerations carefully and learn what you can expect from National
Roofers:
Experience
is essential to a quality roof installation. National Lumber has been
serving builders and homeowners throughout New England since 1934. With
a proud legacy of exceptional customer service, they carefully chose
National Roofers as an installed services affiliate with experienced
staff.
GAF
only bestows Master Elite Contractor status
to roofing contractors with the experienced staff to provide exceptional
roof installation service.
Warranty
is essential to your peace of mind that your investment in your home is
protected. How long can you expect your roofing shingles to last? What
happens if
there is a problem with the roof installation?
GAF
provides the best roofing product warranties. You can read more about
the roofing product options and accompanying warranties
through the National Lumber eShowroom.
National Roofers
provides a two (2) year warranty on roof workmanship.
It's in
the contract we sign with you when you trust us with your roof replacement
project.
Licensing
is essential to confirming the roof replacement is performed
by qualified
workers. In Massachusetts, the Office of Consumer Affairs runs an
arbitration program to resolve disputes between registered roofing
contractors
and homeowners, and administers a Guaranty Fund for homeowners with
unpaid judgments against registered contractors.
In Massachusetts, all
individuals who perform roof replacement, siding, and window
replacement are
required to hold both a Home Improvement Registration and a
Construction Supervisor's License. The Home Improvement
Contractor Law, chapter 142A of the Massachusetts General Laws,
requires
any contractor performing work on an owner-occupied, single-family or
owner-occupied, multi-family
home (with a maximum of four units) to be registered with the
Department. Check the website as some
specific types of work are exempt. Click

As you compare us to other roofing
companies,
ensure that the contractor is appropriately licensed as a Licensed
Construction Supervisor and a Registered Home Improvement Contractor
with the Massachusetts Dept. of Public Safety's Board of Building
Regulations and Standards (“BBRS”). Click here to look up a

Affairs in Massachusetts.
Better
Business Bureau is a well-known source of information on

This means BBB has determined that
National Roofers meets BBB accreditation standards, which include a
commitment
to make a good faith effort to resolve any consumer complaints. BBB
Accredited Businesses pay a fee for accreditation review/monitoring and
for support of BBB services to the public. BBB accreditation does not
mean that the business' products or services have been evaluated or
endorsed by BBB, or that BBB has made a determination as to the
business' product quality or competency in performing services.
Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some
businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB
accreditation.
As you compare us to other roofing
companies,
be certain that they are in good standing with no complaints on file,
or with good resolutions confirmed.
Insurance
is essential to protect you and your property from unforeseen accidents
that may happen during your roof replacement project. Be aware that if
the roofing contractor does not have workman's compensation insurance
and a worker
gets hurt on your job, you could be held responsible. Liability applies
to you if the contractor damages
your neighbor's property and doesn't have liability insurance.
Our roofing
representative will
show you proof of insurance.
Reputable companies carry workers'
compensation insurance to cover their workers. In fact,
with limited exceptions, every employer in the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts with one or more employee(s) is required by law to have a
valid workers' compensation insurance policy at all times.
Reputable roofing companies also carry
adequate liability insurance. For extra
peace of mind, ask the
contractor the name of his insurance company and call that insurance
company to verify that he does have liability and workman's
compensation coverage currently in force. The MA registration or
license process does not require proof of insurance.
Select a contractor vs. choosing from multiple bids. If
you've done your research and are
comfortable that a roofing contractor is right for your job and will be
respectful of your budget, it is fine to select
a contractor without taking bids. You may also request bids but note
that the best bid is not always
the lowest. The quality of roofing materials,
experience,
quality and capability of the companies may differ. Ask specifically
about project
management — will a Licensed
Construction Supervisor be on-site to
supervise the roof installation?
Examine the scope of the roofing
proposals
carefully, checking for similar inclusions such as waste removal and
guarantees.
